WE’RE just a few days away from the first Food n Groove event for the 2022 season.

The first edition takes place this Friday (7 October 2022) at City Park in Hervey Bay – that’s the park next to the Hervey Bay Regional Gallery in Pialba.

A second event has been organised for the Maryborough Showgrounds on Friday, 14 October 2022.
Both events run from 4pm to 9pm and form part of the Fraser Coast Regional Council’s ‘Get Ready Month’ program.

Other than food trucks and great music that Food n Groove has become synonymous for on the Fraser Coast, Council’s ‘Get Ready Month’ program will allow attendees to meet emergency services personnel and ask them about ways they can prepare for bushfires, storms and cyclones.

Emergency service vehicles will also be at the venues to give those interested a close up look at the real thing.
Fraser Coast Division 9 Councillor David Lee stressed the importance of ‘Get Ready Month’ and going over your plans so you can jump into action should an emergency situation arise.
With a wet spring and summer predicted, he said revising ‘what if plans’ and checking escape routes and evacuation kits are vital.

Cr Lee also encouraged residents to download the Disaster Dashboard App to their phones and opt in for Email or SMS notifications.

“You can also log on to cameras and watch livestreams of some of our bridges and rivers through the app or Disaster Dashboard webpage,” Cr Lee said.
